SDLP Waterside Councillor Martin Reilly has welcomed the removal of an abandoned shipping container in Corrody Road at Gobnascale in the Waterside area of Derry which posed a danger to children playing in the area.

It follows a concerned grandmother raising the issue with the former Mayor of Derry as children were playing around it and could get injured.

He Reilly added: “It had also been graffitied and was an eyesore for residents in the area.
“I spoke to the Housing Executive as this container was on their land.

“Thankfully, due to their action, it has now been removed which will be welcomed by those living in the immediate vicinity.”
