Concerns have been raised over underage drinking taking place near a Derry primary school.
Sinn Féin Councillor Mickey Cooper has asked parents in the Rosemount area to be on the alert after he received complaints that young people were gathering and involved in underage drinking in the vicinity of St Anne’s Primary School at the weekend.
He said: “I received several complaints about a number of incidents there on Friday night.
“Sadly, at this time of year we always see an upsurge in this type of activity.
“Not only is there a nuisance factor for local residents but there is also serious health and safety concerns about young people getting intoxicated.
“There is also a heavy responsibility on parents to ensure that their children are not getting caught up in this.”
Cllr Cooper concluded: “I have been in contact with the PSNI and raised residents’ concerns and asked for increased patrols in the area.”
