Three homes were burgled in the Woodbrook of Derry last night.
Laptops computers, handbags, house keys and other valuables were among the items stolen.
It is the latest in a spate of break-ins in the area and Sinn Féin MLA Raymond McCartney has called on householders to be vigilant.
He said: “Householders should review their home security measures ensuring that their doors and windows are securely locked when they leave home.
“People should also not advertise on social media that they are going on holiday or away from the house attending a family event like a wedding.
“We also need to look out for our elderly neighbours at this time to make sure that they are safe and well.”
Mr McCartney concluded: “I would appeal to people to take precautions in order to keep their homes safe from these thieves and report any suspicious activity to the PSNI who are also available to provide crime prevention guidance for anyone who needs it.”
