Sinn Féin councillor for the Bogside area of Derry, Colly Kelly, has urged motorists to take due care and attention following upgrade work at one of the busiest road junctions in the city located at Elmwood Terrace /Westland Street and Laburnum Terrace (pictured).
In 2010 double mini roundabouts were introduced at this junction to slow traffic down due to the high volume of traffic.
Work this week has seen the upgrade of all the road markings and with the pedestrian crossing also getting an upgrade.
Councillor Colly Kelly said “This is a very busy road junction which sees hundreds of vehicles travel through it every day. Over the years this junction has seen its fair share of accidents and near misses.
“I would appeal for motorists to take due care and attention until such times as the system has bedded.”
