The go-ahead for the creation of a major housing development on the outskirts of Derry has been welcomed by SDLP councillor for the area, Angela Dobbins.
She was speaking after Derry City and Strabane District Council gave approval for the building of 1,500 homes, shops and a school at Skeoge in the Galliagh area of the city.
Welcoming the approval, Cllr Dobbins (pictured) described it as “brilliant news.”
She added: “This a significant investment boost into the locality and will benefit, not just the immediate local area, but the entire Galliagh, Shantallow and Ballyarnett areas.
“With large numbers on the housing list in the city, this news is most welcome and a boost for the construction industry.”
