A leading Derry-based mental health charity is to host a one-day Mindfulness Retreat in the city to explore the ancient technique which is proven to improve wellbeing, reduce stress and help people to manage anxiety in a safe and nourishing environment.
AWARE, which was formed in Derry in 1996, is hosting the Mindfulness Retreat in St Columb’s Park House on Saturday week, 6 August.
The retreat will help people who already practice Mindfulness to cultivate a more grounded Mindfulness meditation and to find ways to slow down the hectic pace of life.
Angela, who attended the AWARE retreat earlier this year, has also taken AWARE’s six-week Mindfulness course.
“I would recommend both the retreat and the course,” she said.
“It is definitely helpful in guiding you to become more relaxed. It teaches what is important and what isn’t. I found it a great new habit to replace many old habits, and it has made me more aware of others in my surroundings. It gives me a sense of self acceptance and I cannot tell you how this has had an impact on my life.”
The Retreat will take place on Saturday, 6 August, from 10.00am to 4.00pm in St Columb’s Park House – in the Waterside (registration £40).
Mindfulness Training for Professionals will take place at the same venue on Friday and Saturday, 12-13 August, also between 10.00am and 4.00pm.
Book your place online at www.aware-ni.org or ring on 02871260602.
