A blind man who cycled 2,500km around Ireland for charity ended his epic journey in Derry.
Tom Kennedy, set off from Kinsale in County Cork on July 8, before following the ‘Wild Atlantic Way’ which stretches along the entire west coast of Ireland.
The Kilkenny man arrived in Derry on Monday to complete his gruelling cycle.
Tom took on the challenge to raise money for the Kilkenny Great War Memorial project.
The project was set up in 2011 to honour the memory of 800 Kilkenny men and women who died in the First World War.
Funds are now being raised to create a permanent memorial in Killkenny to those who died.
Among those who travelled to Derry to greet Tom at the end of his cycle was Kilkenny’s Mayor, Councillor Pat O’Neill.
During his cycle, Tom was accompanied on a tandem by a succession of friends who each took a turn in the pilot seat.
They cycled an average of 120 kilometres per day.
Tom has taken part in a large number of challenges, including canoeing from Wales to Ireland, as well as regularly taking part in marathons and triathlons.
However, he said it had been the “Wild Atlantic” cycle had been most enjoyable challenge he had ever taken part in.
“It was tough going but well worth it and we met some fantastic people along the way,” he said.
