The rapid reponse of fire crews prevented a car fire spreading to homes in the Ballyarnett area of Derry tonight, a local councillor has said .
Sinn Fein Cllr Tony Hassan was speaking a car was set on fire on the Beragh Hill Road just after 8.00pm.
Councillor Hassan said “I received a call to say a car was on fire at the Beragh Hill Road.
“I went to the scene and I would say we are very lucky once again as this situation could have been much worse .
“It’s important to commend the quick actions of the Fire Service in preventing the fire from a burning car spread from the bushes to local homes in Elmgrove.”
