One of Derry’s best known charity fundraisers has done it again.
Danny Ogle (pictued) has been taking part in the annual Christmas Day swim at Lisfannon beach in Donegal for almost 30 years.
During that time, he has raised thousands of pounds for various charities.
As a result of last year’s swim, Danny raised £1,000 for the neurology department at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast.
The local man chose to present the money to the department in thanks for the treatment a member of his family recently received.
Danny is well-known for many years through his work as a doorman at local pubs, most notably the Metro Bar.
However, he has now retired from “bouncing” but intends to keep up his charity work.
Danny thanked everyone who has supported his appeals over the years.
“I would especially like to thank staff at the Iceland store on the Buncrana Road and my colleagues at Altnagelvin Hospital for the support they gave me with the most recent Christmas Day swim,” he said.
Scores of people take part each year in the Christmas Day swim.
The event is used to raise money for a wide range of local charities.
