“Good Lord, sit down!” – a judge’s instructions to a solicitor when informed a woman who appeared before him at Derry Magistrates Court today was due to give birth tomorrow.
Lizzie McMenamin (23), from Strand Foyer, denies a burglary charge relating the theft of a television, X-Box and games from a flat at the Strand Road apartment block on May 10 this year.
McMenamin was in court today to hear her solicitor tell Deputy District Judge Ted Magill her due date for her baby was tomorrow.
Addressing the solicitor, Judge Magill said: “Good Lord, sit down!”
The case was adjourned for four weeks.
The case against a co-accused, Siobhan Whelan (25), from Drumard Park, was also put back.
