Derry boxer Connor Coyle will climb into the ring at Tampa Convention Centre in Florida on 16 September next for his first fight as a professional.
The eagerly awaited news was finally delivered to the Commonwealth Games bronze medallist this week,
The 26-year-old has spent the past three weeks training with fellow Derry boxer John Cooley in Florida – who recently won his professional debut, also in the US.
Girlfriend Ashleigh McConalogue will be in attendance for his big debut, giving him much appreciated morale support on what is set to be the biggest night of his career.
“I definitely feel it not seeing my girlfriend and daughter, but at the end of the day this is all for them,” he continued.
“I want to do as well as I can over here because I know if I do well, it will be all worthwhile. I’m also doing it for enjoyment because this is something I have always dreamt of, only now there’s a bigger reason to succeed.”
