Young republicans from across Co Derry took part in events to commemorate the 35th anniversary of the 1981 hunger strike at the weekend.
Dozens of County Derry Sinn Féin Republican Youth members went to Belfast over the weekend and joined hundreds of other activists from across the island.
A spokesperson for the group said: “On Saturday a talk with former blanket men and hunger strikers was held in the Felons and afterwards they took part in a commemorative walk on Black Mountain which finished with a tree being planted on the mountain in memory of each of the hunger strikers."
"On Sunday the main commemoration took place and thousands of people paraded along the Falls road and young Republicans from our county were an integral part of this. Our activists were playing in bands, marching with the South Derry 1916 Reenactment group and read biographies of each of the Hunger strikers."
"County Derry has a long and proud Republican history and we will continue to remember that history and help move our struggle forward to achieve our ultimate goal of a 32 county socialist Republic.
“The Republican movement is alive and well throughout the county as we have shown."
