Derry’s multi-pound Foyle Arena is to close for a number of days next week to facilitate two Northern Ireland Assembly election counts.
The facility, located in St Columb’s Park, will be closed from 1.00pm on Thursday, 5 May, and all day Friday and Saturday, 6 and 7 of May.
Counts for the Foyle and East Derry constituencies will be held in the £12 million centre which opened this time last year.
Security is expected to be tight in and around the centre in the days leading up to and during the counts.
Derry City and Strabane District Council is urging members of the public to use its other leisure facilities in the city, including Templemore Sports Centre, Brooke Park Leisure Centre and the City Baths in William Street.
