The British Rally Championship roars into Derry today with a host of international stars set to compete in the John Mulholland Ulster Rally over the next two days.
Stages will take place across the Sperrins via Strabane and Omagh, through some truly spectacular and iconic locations.
Local Skoda and Hyundai dealer John Mulholland has invested heavily in both time and money to realise his dream of bringing such a prestigious event, along with the Northern Ireland Motor Club, to the North West, for the first time.
The rally will be based in Ebrington Square in Derry with the “live service park” offering access to fans as the rally crews race to prepare their cars for the hectic action.
There will be loads of opportunities to get up close and personal with the stars, get an autograph or maybe even a cheeky selfie with some international rally royalty.
The ceremonial start in Guildhall Square begins at 1.00pm (autograph signing at 12:30)
In previous years the event has attracted around 20,000 spectators, visitors, officials, and competitors from Ireland, Britain and further afield and generates about £1 million for the local economy.
It’s also set to be broadcast on TV, both locally and nationally and will be followed by millions throughout the world through TV programmes, media reports, social media and the Ulster Rally website and Facebook reports.
The entry list includes a host of top talent from home and abroad, with over 150 crews confirmed.
