Could you spot a scammer? Derry bank improving awareness of Financial Scams

A Derry bank is to host an event aimed at beating the fraudsters.

Ulster Bank on Culmore Road will stage the event in collaboration with local Trading Standards and the local PSNI Crime Prevention Office

The bank is inviting customers and members of the public to drop in to the branch on Friday next, 26 August, between 1.00pm and 4.00pm to learn some useful tips on how to keep safe and secure.
Representatives from Age NI and La Dolce Vita Project will also be in attendance.

Branch manager, Charlene McMullan, said she and her team will be answering questions and talking to people about the best ways of protecting themselves, and their friends and relatives when it comes to fraud and known scams local to Derry - free leaflets will also be available.

Sean Murphy, managing Director, Branch Banking NI, said: “At Ulster Bank we are committed to helping our customers and our communities protect themselves from fraud and the fear of fraud.

“Fraud can affect anyone whatever your background, age or experience and attempts can come in all shapes and sizes – over the phone, on the internet or face to face.

“We believe that prevention through education is key – not just for our customers, but the community as a whole. So we are delighted to be working with local Trading Standards/Crime Prevention to offer this drop in event at Culmore Road.”
