IRSP to stage hunger strike commemoration march in Derry this afternoon

A hunger strike commemoration is being held in Derry this afternoon.

Organised by the Irish Republican Socialist Movement, the event is being held to coincide with the 35th anniversary of the death of the last of the 10 men to die on the protest, Derry INLA member Micky Devine (pictured), who died on 20 August 1981.

A spokesperson for the IRSP said today’s event would also commemorate INLA members from Derry and Tyrone who died during the conflict.

A march will leave the former Rosemount Factory building at 1.30pm and make its way to the Republican Socialist plot in the City Cemetery.
