A talk on the vital role that medical staff played in the aftermath of the horrific Battle of the Somme will take place in Derry this evening.
The Central Library on Foyle Street will host the discussion ‘Sisters, Surgeons and Soldiers on the Somme’ at 6.30pm.
There will also be an illustrated presentation by Dr. Yvonne McEwen from the Centre for the Study of Modern Conflict at the University of Edinburgh.
Her talk will focus on the management of casualty of the battle in which thousands of soldiers were either killed or injured.
Admission to this event is free and everyone is welcome to come along to the Central Library this evening.
