Young people in Derry who received their GCSE results today have been urged to “follow your heart and passion” when it comes to fulfilling their educational or career path.
Wishing everyone who got results “every success,” Cllr Patricia Logue, Sinn Fein’s spokesperson on education in Derry, said: “There is a lot of pressure on young people now a-days and I would tell them follow your heart, follow your passion.
“I anticipate once again this year there will be further improvements in literacy and numeracy, given the success of the Signature Project, which was introduced by my colleague, the then Education Minister John O’Dowd and the wider Executive.
“There is a strong argument to be made to reintroduce this scheme in the future.
“I would also like to take this opportunity congratulate the role the parents and teachers in Derry play in educating our young people.”
