Detectives investigating a serious assault on a man in the Magowan Park area of Derry in the early hours of this morning have arrested a 36 year old man.
Shortly before 4am police received a call that a man had been assaulted.
He has been taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries, which are described as serious.
Detective Sergeant Brian Reid would appeal to anyone who has any information about this incident to contact Detectives at Reactive and Organised Crime, Strand Road on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference number 330 28/08/16.
