Teenager charged with robbing chip shop in the Waterside area of Derry on Sunday night

A Derry teenager charged with robbing a chip shop has been remanded in custody.

The 16-year-old male was charged at Derry Magistrates Court today with robbery, possession of an offensive weapon, possession of class A drug, namely cocaine and, possession of class A drugs with intent to supply.

All charges relate to incidents that occurred last Sunday, September 4.

The robbery relates to the theft of a cash till from Brendan's chip shop (pictured above) at Spencer Road in the Waterside.

Two males entered the chip shop banging iron bars on the counter demanding money.

They got away with a cash till, containing a significant sum of cash.

District Judge Harry McKibbon denied bail due to a 'real risk of reoffending' and no suitable bail address.

The teenager was remanded in custody to appear before court on September 27.
