Sinn Féin councillor Sean McGlinchey will be meeting with the PSNI, socials services and other relevant bodies to discuss serious anti-social behaviour and drug issues in Dungiven.
Speaking after a show of solidarity organised by residents in one particular estate Councillor McGlinchey said: "I welcome the local community taking the initiative and showing support to their affected neighbours. However it is regrettable that it has came to this but we will strive to resolve the problems as soon as possible.
"The residents here have taken the opportunity to voice their fears and give various horrible examples of the problems they are facing to the PSNI and I am confident the issues raised have been taken on board.
"We have elderly couples and young families living in fear as they witness the most disturbing scenes regularly."
He added: "I will bring the relevant bodies together including representatives of the community group to move this forward and people in the estate can get back to living in peace."
