A County Derry man who faces a number of sexual charges is to stand trial next month.
The man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is accused of committing numerous sexual offences against a female child family member over various dates between May 1, 2012 and October 31, 2013.
The allegations include sexual assault, intentional sexual touching and other related sexual offences.
The defendant, who is aged in his 60’s, appeared before a preliminary hearing at Magherafelt Magistrates’ Court this morning.
During the short hearing, the defendant confirmed that he understood the charges brought against him.
He declined to say anything in relation to the allegations or to call any witnesses at this stage.
District Judge Alan White told the court that he was satisfied there was a case to answer.
The man was released on his own continuing bail to be returned for trial at Derry Crown Court on October 4.
