Police are appealing for witnesses and information following an attempted fraud by false representation in a business premise in the area of Killen, Castlederg.

A police spokesperson said: “It was reported that at approximately 12.28pm on Tuesday 13th September 2016, two Asian males driving a black Nissan Navara motor vehicle, registration mark YG65 UUN arrived at the business premises stating that they were selling car data fault finding computer packages.

“The males then proceeded to state they would demonstrate their system by downloading it onto the business premise computer via a USB pen drive.

“After a period of time the owner became suspicious and asked the males to stop, the males removed their pen drive and made off in the direction of Killen.”

Police believe this was an elaborate attempt to download information from the business premises, which could be later used in crime.

“We are appealing for anyone who might have information which may assist the investigation to contact Strabane Police Station on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference 531 on 13/09/16.

“Or, if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
