A prestigious awards event will be held in Derry for the first time this weekend.
The Royal College of General Practitioners NI (RCGPNI) is bringing their New Members and Awards Ceremony and Gala Dinner to the Guildhall.
Both events will be hosted by RCGPNI Chair Dr John O’Kelly on Saturday 17 September.
On Saturday afternoon, 17 newly qualified GPs will be formally welcomed as new members of the College.
Certificates for new members will be presented by RCGP President, Dr Terry Kemple. Professor Maureen Baker, Chair of the RCGP, will also be in attendance.
A variety of awards to recognise excellence in general practice will be presented to medical students and GPs in the first five years of their career, as well as to newly appointed Fellows of the College.
The prestigious award for GP of the Year will also be presented.
Dr John O’Kelly, Chair of the Royal College of General Practitioners NI, said: “I am delighted to be able to bring the RCGPNI New Members and Awards Ceremony and Gala Dinner to my home city of Derry/Londonderry.
“It is fantastic to be joined by the College’s Chair, President and Chair-Elect at the iconic Guild Hall in order to welcome 17 new members to the College, and to have the opportunity to recognise excellence in the profession.”
