Sinn Féin Councillor Eric McGinley has called on Transport NI to prioritise the Ballymagroarty and Hazelbank estates as a response to a large number of street lights needing replaced.

Councillor McGinley said: “I have counted almost 40 street lights out between Ballymagroarty and Hazelbank at this present time which is a situation which needs to be immediately rectified.

“As the nights and mornings become increasingly darker the dangers to pedestrians and road users alike also increases.

“I have brought this matter to the attention of Transport NI’s street lighting section and I have asked for an immediate response.”
