The launch of the ‘Still Me’ dementia public information campaign has been welcomed by Sinn Fein MEP Martina Anderson.
Despite an estimated 19,000 people in the North living with dementia, Ms Anderson said only some 13,000 have received a formal diagnosis.
She added: “Behind these figures are mothers, fathers, sons and daughters whose lives have been changed forever through the onset of dementia.
“Last week Michelle O’Neill launched the Dementia Learning and Development Framework and I believe both initiatives will help all of us, especially those who work and care for people living with dementia, to better understand their particular needs.”
Ms Anderson concluded: "The launch of these campaigns will help in the implementation of the Delivering Social Change Dementia Initiative, raise awareness and understanding of dementia and help address the stigma attached to the condition."
