Derry students speak out in support of Jeremy Corbyn as Labour Party leader

A number of Derry students have publicly voiced their support for Jeremy Corbyn remaining leader of the British Labour Party.

Voting in the contest – in which Owen Smyth is challenging Mr Corbyn’s leadership – closed at midday today with the result being declared in Liverpool on Saturday.

Sixth year students from local colleges voiced their support for the current leader at a “Speakout for Corbyn” rally held in Derry’s Peace Garden this evening.

Among those in attendance was People Before Profit MLA Eamon McCann.

The event was organised by Thornhill College sixth formers, Bonnie Quigley and Anna McAree.
