An initiative by the PSNI to tackle the issue of “boy racers” located at a car park on the Strand Road in Derry, has been welcomed by Sinn Fein councillor for the area Mickey Cooper.
Cllr Cooper said the issue had been of “great concern1 to residents living in the area.
He was speaking following the first phase of the initiative, which also involved officials from the Driver Vehicle Agency (DVA), pictured.
Cllr Cooper said: “I have organised a number meetings between residents and the PSNI over the issue which left the police in no doubt about residents’ concerns.
"And I will ensure that there are follow up meetings with residents and police to gauge the success of how this is going.”
Cllr Cooper concluded: “I hope this initiative is successful and as we move forward brings peace of mind to local residents and improves road safety in that part of the city.”
