Sixteen candidates are to contest the Foyle constituency in next month’s Northern Ireland Assembly elections.
The deadline for nominating candidates in the election on May 5 passed this week.
The battle for the six seats in Foyle will be one of the most eagerly-watched aspects of the election.
At present, the SDLP hold three of the seats in Foyle, with party leader Colum Eastwood, Mark H Durkan and Gerard Diver.
Sinn Fein currently has two MLAs in Foyle, Maeve McLaughlin and Raymond McCartney, while the other seat is held by the DUP’s Gary Middleton.
However, Sinn Fein are hoping to win three of the local seats in the Foyle constituency after the Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness was added to their ticket in the constituency.
However, the SDLP has said they are confident of holding on to their three seats in Foyle.The full list of candidates declared for the Foyle constituencty, in alphabetical order, are:

The election count in Foyle will take place at the Foyle Arena in St Columb’s Park.
