Hundreds of people today took part in an event in memory of a popular Derry man.

Marty’s Run is held each year in memory of Marty Gallagher, a much respected and gifted member of the local Foyle Valley Athletics Club who lost his life tragically in 2009.

Marty was struck and killed by a drink driver while making his way from home from the Halloween celebrations in Derry.

In honour of Marty, the Foyle Valley club created the annual run which was first held in 2010.

Since then, it has gone on to become one of the best supported events in the local sporting calendar.

See tomorrow's Derry News for extensive coverage of today's event.
