Derry City booked their place in the EA Sports Cup semi-finals with an extra time win over hotly fancied Cork City in their quarter-final clash at Turners Cross tonight.
Derry went behind in the ninth minute when Ian Turner rolled a free-kick to Mark O’Sullivan who drove to the bottom left hand corner.
Barry McNamee brought Derry level when he found the bottom left hand corner in the 38th minute.
Gerard Doherty prevented the home side taking the lead when he saved a Danny Morrissey half volley in the 67th minute.
Conor McCormack had a chance to win it for Derry but he blasted his 88th minute effort over the crossbar.
Substitute Nathan Boyle had a chance to put the visitors in front in the first minute of extra time but he drove his shot into the side netting.
Dean Jarvis (pictured) headed home what proved to be the winner four minutes later.
Next up for Derry is an away league trip to face St Patrick’s Athletic on Friday night
