Man treated in hospital: Police appeal for witnesses to Derry pub assault

Police are appealing for witnesses and information following an assault that occurred in a licensed premises in Derry..

The incident occurred at around 2.00am on Sunday last.

Appealing for information, Constable Martin said: “A 53 year old male was assaulted by a male described as being of a slim build, six foot one in height, with sandy coloured hair and was wearing a white t shirt at the time of the incident.

"The assaulted male was taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries which are not believed to be life threatening.

“We are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the assault to contact Strand Road Police Station on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference 500 on 12/10/2016.

“Or, if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details they can contact the independent charity Crime stoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
