One of the North’s best known comediennes is to be the main speaker at a major women’s conference being held in Derry next month.
The Foyle Women’s Information Network will host their annual conference on Thursday, November 3, in the Guildhall.
The conference will run from 9.30am to 1.00pm and will look at a variety of issues affecting women’s lives.
The main speaker will be writer and comedienne Nuala McKeever (pictured).
Joining her on stage will be local business woman Cathy McCann, Youth Action’s Emma Johnston and local commentator Anita Robinson.
There will also be entertainment from the Pink Ladies Choir, local singer Ruth McPhilips as well as a short play.
The conference will focus on women's equality and leadership, as well as celebrating the achievements of local communities.
Ms McKeever first came to public attention in the award-winning Give My Head Peace.
She then had her own comedy series McKeever which ran for three years on UTV.
Since then, she has written four plays, the most recent of which, In The Window, has gained five star reviews.
Cathy McCann regularly jets off to Japan, London and India as part of her role as Service Director for Global Digital Business Platform and Hybrid IT Services DTS with Fujitsu.
She has held diverse leadership roles within the IT and has more than 20 years of industry experience and is passionate about customer service excellence.
She was recently awarded NI’s Most inspiring Women 2016 by Business First Online.
FWIN Co-ordinator, Catherine Cooke, said: “We look forward to our conference every year and this year looks set to be our best one ever.
“There is going to be so much to enjoy, not just our wonderful speakers and fantastic music but we are also having a short play performed.
“Our conferences are always over subscribed so I would encourage anyone who wants to come to register as soon as possible.”
