Knife brandished during terrifying shop robbery in Derry: Police have arrested a 17-year-old boy

Detectives investigating the report of a robbery at a shop in the Glenfada Park area of Derry yesterday have arrested a 17-year-old male. He is currently in police custody.

It was reported that at approximately 6pm on Friday a male entered the shop brandishing a knife. He left the scene empty handed. No one was injured during this incident.

A police spokesperson appealed to anyone who may have witnessed any suspicious activity in the area to contact Detectives at Reactive and Organised Crime, Strand Road on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference 1042 14/10/16.

Alternatively, if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.
