A 14-year-old Derry boy charged with the destruction of a life-saving defibrillator has pleaded guilty to the offence and another 15 offences at the city's Youth Court.
The youth, who cannot be identified because of his age, appeared before the court at Bishop Street via video link from a Juvenile Justice Centre.
He faced five counts of criminal damage, four counts of assault on police, four counts of disorderly behaviour and three counts of resisting police.
The offences all took place in April, June, July and August this year.
He pleaded guilty to all the offences.
The £1,500 defibrillator that was damaged beyond repair at the Eurospar shop at Church Meadows on the Rossdowney Road in the Waterside area of the city on August 21 this year, had been collected for and bought by the community.
The incident was captured on CCTV outside the shop and footage of the vandalism was shared widely both on social media and local media.
Nicki Rountree, defence counsel, told the court reports in relation to all the offences were being prepared and that some had already been completed.
District Judge Barney McElholm said: “He is really building up quite a number of offences.”
He added the youth would likely spend the best part of the next three months in secure accommodation.
A number of the matters before the court will be up for mention on November 1 and some await Youth Conference Reports.
All matters will be back before the Youth Court again on December 6.
