A Derry shopping centre has been put on the market with an asking price of £4.3m.

The Quayside Shopping Centre on the Strand Road is the smallest in the city centre, but is expected to attract plenty of interest from investors.

It is the fourth shopping centre in the town to be put up for sale in the last two years and currently boasts 98% occupancy.

The Foyleside and Richmond centres were successfully sold, but Lisnagelvin Shopping Centre in the Waterside is still waitng for a buyer.

Tesco and the Omniplex are long leasehold tenants at Quayside, meaning the new owner will not receive rent from them.

Quayside was opened in the early 90s with the anchor tenant 'West Side Stores'.

Current shops in the 86,500 sq ft complex include Subway, Savers Chemist, and Card Factory.

The sale is being handled by Belfast-based estate agents 'Colliers International' for the current owners Monnaboy Ltd, formerly known as McGinnis Group.

Martin Riddell, Associate Director for Colliers International said: "It will be attractive because of the multi-storey car park which has just under 500 spaces,

"It's also adjacent to the City Hotel and Travel Lodge Hotel."
