A Derry based DUP councillor has branded Ireland's Taoiseach Leo Varadkar as a 'legend'.

Alderman David Ramsey was speaking after the Taoiseach laid a Remembrance Sunday wreath at the site of the Enniskillen bombing today.

The bombing took place on Remembrance Day 1987 (8 November) when the IRA planted a bomb at the town's war memorial and it went off during Remembrance Day services.

11 people were killed and 63 injured in the bombing.

Mr Varadkar also attracted attention for his decision to wear a 'Shamrock Poppy' in The Dail this week.

Alderman Ramsey said: "He is a legend and promotes what used to be, we did live in peace together.

"There is no justification for the murder of fellow Irish men and women.

"No Surrender from us, both Protestant and Catholic."
