WaterAid NI supporters are being encouraged to come out in force to mark World Toilet Day on 19 November and squat in solidarity with the 2.3 billion people around the world who still don’t have a toilet.

Christine McAllister, WaterAid Secretary for NI comments: “World Toilet Day is about inspiring action to tackle the global sanitation crisis and raise awareness of the fact that billions of people don’t have somewhere safe to go to the toilet.

“One in three people still live without a decent toilet and one in nine do not have clean water close to home. In Bangladesh, more than half (53%) the population don't have a decent toilet, that's more than 85 million people.”*

NI Water is proud to support the work of the international charity WaterAid, which works with some of the world’s poorest communities to provide clean, safe drinking water and sanitation facilities.  Since 1981 WaterAid has reached 25.8 million people with clean water and 25.1 million with decent toilets.*

You can get involved too and while you ‘spend a penny’, why not donate a £1 (or more) to WaterAid to help make the dream of sanitation and hygiene for all a reality.
