A police search of a house in the Creggan area of Derry this morning is linked to the PSNI operation at the funeral of Michael Barr in Strabane yesterday.

Fifteen men were arrested following a paramilitary display at the funeral of the dissident republican who was shot dead in Dublin last month.

The remain in custody and are being questioned by detectives from the PSNI’s Serious Crime Branch at Musgrave Police Station in Belfast.

Confirming searches were taking place this morning, District Commander Superintendent Mark McEwan said: “Police are conducting a number of searches in Derry City and Strabane District this morning, linked to the policing operation at the funeral of Michael Barr in Strabane yesterday.”

One of the searches took place at a house in the Circular Road of Derry.

A police helicopter gave “cover” during the search.
