Following the success of previous Relaxed, Dementia Friendly and Signed Performances, the Millennium Forum has announced two accessible shows for its Christmas panto, Jack & The Beanstalk.

A signed Performance will take place on Thursday December 7 at 7pm while a relaxed and dementia friendly performance will take place on Sunday December 10 at 4pm.

A Relaxed or Dementia Friendly performance is adapted in various ways to make it accessible to young people or adults with learning or sensory difficulties or people with dementia.

Since 2013, the Millennium Forum has been holding these specially adapted performances for its customers and was the first theatre in Ireland to do so.

Lisa Heaney, Box Office Manager at the Millennium Forum, asked the public to support the event.

“These performance differ from the usual performances in that the attitude to noise and movement is relaxed, and we ask anyone who buys a ticket for this performance to be supportive of this," she said.

"Most importantly, we ask every audience member and staff member to be tolerant and accepting of the fact that people with dementia and young people with learning and sensory difficulties will express enjoyment of the show in different ways. Interval entertainment will be provided by Stage Beyond.”

Special signers will take part in the event.

“At the Signed Performance we will have BSL and ISL signers. Signers will be positioned at the front of the stage for ease of viewing. The Millennium Forum recognises and embraces the challenges that a life with dementia, learning and sensory difficulties presents to the person and the people who support them," she said.

Jack & The Beanstalk is the Forum's biggest show of the Christmas season and is guaranteed to be a highlight in the city’s festive calendar.

A gigantic beanstalk, Daisy the Cow, magic beans, a goose that lays golden eggs and the nastiest of giants wil lall be part of the performance.

Telling the story of peasant boy Jack and his attempts to please his impoverished mother and win the hand of Princess Jill, Jack & The Beanstalk remains one of the best-loved pantomimes of all time.

Packed with great song and dance routines, hilarious comedy, dazzling scenes and magical special effects, Jack & The Beanstalk, sponsored by the Richmond Centre, is fun for all the family from 4-94!
