A local DUP spokesperson has said that the party will prevent a United Ireland 'by stealth' following Brexit negotiations yestedary.
The party representative said that the party would take the backlash 'on the chin' after claims they rejected a deal which would see Northern Ireland remain in the single market.
A Derry DUP spokesperson said: "Just watch while once again Unionism gets the blame for everything, no deal is better than a bad deal, thankfully we are in a position to prevent a United Ireland by stealth.
"The Unionist majority will get a break some day. No other people would put up with what we put up with over the last few hundred years and then just agree to be popular.
"The thing about politics for other parties is they just go with the flow but the DUP don’t and take the backlash on the chin.
"Too many lives have been lost to allow for weakening this part of the world within the United Kingdom."
