Sinn Féin Councillor Kevin Campbell has called on local communities to be extra vigilant in the care of elderly and vulnerable neighbours who may be affected by severe  weather conditions over the next few days.

Speaking after snow showers hit the North West overnight councillor Kevin Campbell said: “It’s imperative that we take care of our vulnerable neighbours in the face of severe weather conditions ,there doesn’t need to be snow or ice on the streets for people to feel cut off. Tasks as simple as even going to the shop for bread and milk can be  problematic so it is up to local communities to take steps to help those in need.

“I would call on everyone to go the extra mile to provide the necessary support required. We ask that residents take a minute to check in on elderly and vulnerable neighbours and friends to ensure that their safety is ok during the adverse conditions.”
