SDLP councillr Shauna Cusack has welcomed the long awaited line painting of roads in and around the Northland, Foyle Springs and Glen Road vicinity.
Cllr Cusack said: "This has been an ongoing issue throughout the City which myself and my SDLP colleagues have made numerous representations to Transport NI on behalf of our constituencies.
"The serious lack of effective road markings, I believe, are a worrying road safety concern with poor visibility exacerbated by the dark mornings, evenings and general poor weather.
"I'm glad to see steps are now being taken by the department to address this issue and I would hope to see such road marking improvements made in all areas our City and District. I will continue to push for attention to the roads in my DEA with Creggan Road being one of the worst in my view.
"As always the ability to carry out such works is budget dependent and with all Departments feeling the squeeze it's a fight to get works financed. However the safety of all who use our roads should always be top of the list regardless of cost when it comes to DFI priorities."
