A mum-of-three from County Derry described a Blackburn shopping centre worker as her Christmas angel after she helped her secure an elusive gift!
Dolores Donaghy, from Dungiven, had scoured the whole of Ireland looking for the TJ Perkins WWE wrestling figure to send to Father Christmas for her ten-year-old son Adam, which is the only specific gift he asked for after scaling back his festive wish list!
Father Christmas had run out of the popular toy and the only place Dolores could find the figure was in The Mall Blackburn’s Toys R Us store. After speaking to management at the toy shop she was told that it could take up to six weeks for it to be delivered to her hometown of County Derry in Ireland.
Desperate to make sure her son got exactly what he wanted Dolores decided to send a Facebook message to the shopping centre to see if any of the staff would be willing to buy and post the gift to her….and that is where she met Vickie Mawdsley!
As a mother herself Vickie understood Dolores’ plight and agreed to help by purchasing TJ Perkins and arranging for it to be couriered to Father Christmas across the Irish Sea to its ultimate destination just days before Christmas!
Dolores, who is mum to 13-year-old Leah, ten-year-old Adam and six-year-old Hope, said: “Vickie answered me immediately and before I knew it TJ Perkins was winging his way across to Father Christmas! It all reminded me of that old Arnold Schwarzenegger film, Jingle All The Way!
“Adam was absolutely over-joyed when he opened his gift and the look on his face made every second of worry worth it.
“I really can’t thank Vickie enough, she is my Christmas angel!”
