The National Health Service Breast Screening Programme is due to provide screening for women in the Coleraine and Causeway area in 2018. This year the mobile screening unit will again be located at Dunnes Stores, 5 Bannside Wharf in the town.
Screening commenced yesterday (Monday, February 5) and will continue there until the end of November 2018 (with the exception of the month of July).
Dunnes Stores kindly agreed to accommodate the service again in 2018 and the Breast Screening Programme is delighted with this cooperation as the location is central and convenient for women whilst providing a flat site for the mobile itself.
All women aged between 50 and 70 will automatically receive an appointment if they are registered with one of the following GP Practices:
Ballycastle Medical Practice
Dalriada Family Practice
Armoy Health Centre
Lodge Health Centre
Castlerock Road Health Centre
Killowen Health Centre
Portstewart Family Practice
Portstewart Medical Practice
Mountsandel Health Centre
Portrush Health Centre
Liffock Surgery Castlerock
Bushmills Medical Centre
Garvagh Health Centre
Screening is also available, and free, for all women over the age 70. As women over 70 do not receive their appointment automatically they can ring and make an appointment to attend the mobile at Dunnes Stores by contacting the screening centre on 028 71611363 (select option 1). Alternatively they can request an appointment by sending an email to altnagelvin.breastscreening@
