Derry's council have advertised publicly for a new site for a cityside cemetery, which they hope to buy within the next six months.
The Derry News revealed on January 11, that the current City Cemetery, which was extended in 2014, will be filled to capacity within five years.
The Council have now issued an advertisement in the Official Journal of the EU seeking expressions of interest from "owners of lands on the west bank of Derry City to facilitate the development of a Municipal Cemetery".
The tenders states: "Estimated total value excluding VAT: 250 000.00 GBP. Duration of the contract, framework agreement or dynamic purchasing system in months: 6."
Council Town Clerk, John Kelpie, is the nominated contact person for expressions of interest. Tenders, or requests to participate must be received by February 23, at noon.
