The police in Derry say local mothers were 'fuming' when a car thief ditched a stolen vehicle in their neighborhood last night.
And they advised the thief to stay clear of the the area in future as he would 'get a warmer welcome in Strand Road [police station]'.
A spokesperson for PSNI Foyle said today: "Last night Ballyarnett Night Patrol sighted this Passat (pictured above) being driven out of Elaghmore Park by a disqualified driver. It was subsequently located in Brookdale Park and following enquiries with the registered keeper it was seized as being stolen in a creeper burglary.
"The people of Brookdale Park young and old were in good form and friendly towards police. However they were not too impressed with the male who ditched this stolen car in their area.
"Some of the local mothers were fuming when the alarm was sounding as it was being positioned on the recovery truck. They even came out in their unicorn slippers and pyjamas to let us know.
"We don't often give advice to burglars but on this occasion we would advise our fella to stay clear of Brookdale for 'waking the wains'. You will get a warmer welcome in Strand Road, believe me."
