Tributes have been paid to a popular father-of-three from Derry who was killed in a car crash in India.
Rajesh Bacheta, who was from the Waterside area, died in the collision which took place in the Rajasthan region in the north-west of the country at the weekend.
Mr Bacheta, known as Raj, worked at the Premier Inn in Derry and his wife, Mary, is the principal of Chapel Road Primary School.
Mr Bacheta’s sister, Neelam, who lives in London, was also killed in the crash.
Both Mr Bacheta’s eldest daughter, Sophie – a former pupil of Lumen Christi College in Derry – and his mother were also injured in the crash and are understood to be in intensive care in hospital.
Tributes have since flooded in for Mr Bacheta on social media, where friends have described him as having a 'heart of gold and a good soul', and 'always was the first to ask how you are'.
Another person wrote that Mr Bacheta had 'a great personality. I count myself lucky to have shared that time and the experiences with him'.
The retired hospital consultant, Dr Kanwar Panesar, wrote: "Saddened and shocked to hear about the sad and tragic passing away of Raj and Neelam."
