A charity night will be held this weekend to raise funds for an organisation who helped bring the remains of a Derry woman home following her tragic death last year.

Marie Coyle (pictured above) died suddenly whilst on a family holiday in Lanzarote in June last year.

An Irish charity helped eased the financial and emotional burden of bringing her home.

The Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust (KBRT) was set up by the Bell family from Newry in memory of their son, Kevin, who was killed in a suspected hit-and-run in New York in June 2013.

Since then, the charity has helped almost 400 families whose loved ones have died away from home.

In the wake of her death, Marie’s family have held a number of fundraising events to provide help for the Trust, including a memorial walk organised by her sister, Yvonne.

There has also been a football cup involved through Derry team, Tristar, which will now be held annually.

This Saturday, March 3, will see the Delacroix on the Buncrana Road host a special charity night in memory of Marie, with all proceeds from the night going towards The Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust.

The founder and chairman of the Trust, Kevin’s father, Colin Bell, will be attendance on the night, which will see a performance from Mickey Doherty, a disco, buffet and raffles.

A spokesperson for Marie’s family said: “We will be forever grateful to the Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust for everything they did for us at an extremely difficult time for our family.

“We are inviting people to come along, have a great evening and raise funds for a truly fantastic and worthwhile cause.”

Entry on the night is £5, doors open at 9pm.
