The Yellow Alert for Derry issued by the Met Office remains in place although across the border in Donegal, the county has been placed on Red Alert.

This photo shows the scene Buncrana Main Street this morning as people appeared to be taking heed of the warning to stay at home due to the adverse weather conditions attributed to the "Beast from the East."

The Red Alert for extreme weather conditions was extended to Donegal overnight.

Schools and transport have shut down and members of the public advised to make journeys only if necessary.

The alert is to remain in place until 3.00pm tomorrow.
